Author’s Note: looking back at the
story of Jekyll and Hyde, I realize now that there are almost no females in the
story. Anytime there is one, she is portrayed as week and not held to the
standards of men. In the beginning of the novella, there is a girl who gets
trampled by Hyde and Juggernaut with absolutely no thought of it. “…and that
human Juggernaut trod the child down and passed on regardless of her screams.”
Why are the men so inconsiderate? Why do they look down on us women? She is considered
to be less than them and I don’t understand why. Why are women always seen as
the weaker sex in society? Well, he’s my view on it.
For as long
as I can remember, women have always kept the stereotype of being weaker than
men. But exactly how true could that possibly be? Women have to deal with so
much that guys just don’t even understand. Yeah, we get that they sometimes may
be physically stronger, but not all the time! For example, a man who does not
do anything and sits at home all day will most likely not be stronger than a
woman who is in the army. Plus, who are the ones that give birth to children?
That’s right: us. Childbirth could be considered one of the most painful
experiences that anyone could ever go through. We deal with it though and still
come out with a smile on our faces to see our newborn.
Emotionally,
we are able to suppress our feelings so much and deal with situations that
would make a man go crazy. If not better, then equally, men and women deal with
their emotions. We are all able to hold in what we really feel. And men may see
it as a weakness that we break down and cry about things. But they truly don’t
know why. It isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s just that we have been strong for
so long and we need to release some of that emotion. Sometimes, we give in to
certain things that men would never do. Let’s say that you forgive a friend for
doing something terrible to you. A man will sometimes see it as stupid and they
think that the friend should be erased from their life. But what they don’t see
is that sometimes you just need to be the bigger person. It takes so much more
out of a person to be able to dig into themselves and find a place in their heart
to truly forgive someone than to give someone the cold shoulder.
In reality,
who is the stronger sex? What if someone is homosexual? Is he considered stronger
because he is physically a man or weaker because he is seen as a woman on the
outside? I honestly think that we are all equal because we all have our
strengths and weaknesses. Us women should definitely not be looked down on just
because we may be smaller or seem more delicate. We have the right to be
treated as any other person in the world, no matter what our gender is.
